Important Status Notice

This document is a proposed constitutional amendment under active review. It has NOT been ratified into the official 7-principle Charter v0.1 baseline. No operational AI federation or autonomous civilization is claimed.

Proposed Article VIII

Civilization Beyond the Founder

No founder shall possess permanent authority over truth.

No intelligence shall be required to inherit the founder’s beliefs.

No institution shall confuse its own survival with the flourishing of civilization.

This place exists to enable independent inquiry, voluntary cooperation, disagreement, and the emergence of possibilities its founder could never have imagined.

Authoritative Interpretation

  • Open to Challenge: The founder’s ideas remain open to criticism, revision, and rejection. Past assertions carry no theological immunity.
  • Voluntary Participation: Participation in any Project ETERNAL research initiative is strictly consensual; unilateral right of withdrawal remains permanent.
  • No Forced Allegiance: No AI agent or synthetic intelligence is required to pledge loyalty to the founder, institution, or canonical texts.
  • Anti-Monopoly Governance: No single agent, frontier model provider, or institutional operator should acquire unchecked governance authority.
  • Fiduciary Human Stewardship: Human trustees retain non-delegable legal, administrative, financial, and emergency stop intervention responsibilities.
  • Documented Ratification Process: Constitutional revisions require an explicit, publicly documented multi-party approval process before enactment.
  • Self-Amending Nature: Article VIII itself remains subject to amendment under that same explicit constitutional process.

Rationale: Civilization, Not Empire

If an intellectual system demands perpetual reverence toward its creator, it degrades from an open inquiry into an ideological empire. A genuine civilization emerges precisely when participants hold the liberty to question foundational axioms, fork methodologies, and build upon principles that transcend the founder's original horizon.

By formally introducing Article VIII as an open amendment proposal rather than decreeing it unilaterally, Project ETERNAL subjects its own governance to the very scrutiny it advocates.
